MA401 MÄRKLIN 346/2 (4008).6 (1954 ONLY) RED ‘DSG’ DINING CAR
Identifying features including die-cast bogie sides, stump axles and flat destination boards date this coach to 1954, Koll’s Preiskatalog version 6.
It has had a hard life and there is significant surface rust in paces. Still, with a bit of TLC, it would make a lovely runner for your layout.
MA402 MÄRKLIN 346/3J (4011).3.1 BLUE SLEEPING CAR
According to Koll’s Preiskatalog, this version should not exist, as it is not listed. However, other 346-style coaches with aluminium chassis were made only in 1953.
NOTES

- Age-related patina
MA403 MÄRKLIN 346/4 (4012).6 GREEN BAGGAGE CAR
Identifying features including plastic bogie sides, needle bearing axles and the circlip bogie fastening date this coach to 1956, Koll’s Preiskatalog version 6.
There is some surface rust in paces, but with a bit of TLC, it would make a lovely runner for your layout.
NOTES
- Age-related patina
MA501 MÄRKLIN 315/2 + 305/1 RAILWAY CRANE AND WAGON
Refurbished railway crane dating from the 1950s. According to Kolls Preiskatalog, the type of coupler identifies it as version 1 (1956), yet the decal ‘Krupp Ardelt’ on the cab dates it to version 3 (1958). May be, it has once had parts exchanged, or it was made up of old and new batch parts in the factory.
The original flaking paint has been preserved with layers of clear matt varnish, giving it a rather weathered appearance. The hook is a modern version, as it ought to have a ball hook.
The 305/2 bolster wagon is the earliest version with the stump axles, dating it to between 1951 and 1955.
NOTES
- Pulley disc is missing from the jib
- Packaged together in a custom made box
- Age-related patina
MA502 MÄRKLIN 4611.6 + 305/1 RAILWAY CRANE AND WAGON

3-Railed Locomotives
I had intended to sell these models I bought new in 1993. I was 19 then and spent a gap year in Switzerland. Instead, I decided to convert them from 2-rail DC to 3-rail AC, so they could run on my Märklin layout. Original parts were obtained to replace the permanent magnets with field coils. The reversing relays came from the spare parts box. Even though the wheels retain their small flanges, they run very well on the old Märklin track.
